Think You Want To Be A Preacher? Think On This

Are you like this guy, wondering if preaching is your gift?

Called to Preach (Leadership Journal)

Then go for it, but don’t be surprised:

Tough Sundays (Leadership Journal)

And no matter what, remember this wise advice:

Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. (James 3:1.)

Kind of makes me look at preaching and teaching (and the preachers and teachers who serve God and his people) in a while different light.

  1. Laura Droege says:

    This made me laugh. Thanks!
It also reminded me of a story about Agatha Christie. She finished reading a mystery novel, thought “I can write a book better than that!”, and started writing her first murder mystery because she couldn’t find any new books that she enjoyed and hadn’t already read.

    • Tim says:

I had the same thoughts about applying for the bench back when I was an attorney appearing in some courtrooms. Most judges were outstanding, but a few were quite not!

  2. Pastor Bob says:

Many bloom or wither where they are. It is the calling that carries as the water and sun weaken.
    Blessings!

  3. Jeannie says:

I especially like the first one. I’ve actually seen that!

  4. April Fiet says:

    Haha! This is hilarious!
