Valentine’s Day Passion

My wife and I were talking the other day about passions. Not romantic passions, but passion in the sense of what we feel passionate about and whether there are common passions in our lives.

One common passion we’ve seen is when we work with children, particularly young ones. In fact, that might have been how I first caught her eye. Soon after we got married she told me about something that happened before we even started dating.

It happened at church. She and a friend were walking along and saw me across the courtyard. I was holding a friend’s child in my arms and my wife turned to her friend and said, “Is there anything more attractive than a guy holding a baby?”

Some of you might be nodding your heads in agreement, while some might wonder what on earth she’s talking about. That’s OK. The point is that she touched on a common passion: caring for kids. It’s a passion that led to countless ministry moments for us to share as we served God together.

On this Valentine’s Day I hope you have passions to remember as well, and that they too remind you of God.

Back when our children were babies, if I was carrying one of them in a store I would often converse with more than one women who came up and fawned over them. At the time I humorously thought it was a great way for a single guy to meet women.
