The Waste of Worry

Worry

We worry so much about what others will think of us, forgetting that they hardly ever are – Jeannie Prinsen

Some words from Jesus on worry:

Don’t worry about things you have no control over, such as adding an hour to your life.

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” (Luke 12:25-26.)

Don’t worry about the future , since you cannot predict what it will bring.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34.)

Don’t worry about a multitude of circumstances around you, but focus on the one thing that matters: Jesus and your relationship with him.

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42.)

And follow Jeannie Prinsen’s advice:  don’t worry about what other people think, because they probably aren’t thinking of you anyway. Think of Jesus instead.

Hey, nice meme, Tim! 🙂 I was being a little tongue-in-cheek when I said that, but it’s true: we do waste a lot of time on stuff like that.
