Rain Always Stops

Rain threatened and fell /Hard, dark, lasting forever/Until it stopped/ Rain always stops

My soul is downcast within me.
Yet this I call to mind
    and therefore I have hope:

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.
(Lamentations 3:20-23.)

  1. Well, you’ve quoted my (ahem) life verse here, Tim, so I like it. I also like how the poem contrasts our feelings — which are fleeting, yet legitimate at the time — with a deeper reality. A contemporary psalm.

  2. Beautiful verse. My soul is downcast by the spiritual abuse I have endured for the past 5 years yet I know that my Saviour endured so much more for me and this keeps me going. I am presently listening to Adele sing ‘Make you feel my love’: I know and feel God’s love.

    When the rain is blowing in your face,
    And the whole world is on your case,
    I could offer you a warm embrace
    To make you feel my love.

    When the evening shadows and the stars appear,
    And there is no one there to dry your tears,
    I could hold you for a million years
    To make you feel my love.
