Never date someone who is threatened by your intelligence, laughs at your ignorance, or demeans your accomplishments

Credit for the first part of today’s meme goes to E.A. Stephens, who left this comment on Christian Dating Tips – the one to avoid: “I learned the hard way that you should never date a man who’s threatened by your intelligence.” It was too good not to meme.

More Christian dating tips are available on the blog at Dating made simple – the only rule you’ll ever need for picking a perfect date.

  1. Carol Noren Johnson says:

I went to a Toastmasters District Conference last weekend and performed “Pizzazz”. Later an announcer, Rodney Grady, said,

” I know now not to judge a rapper by her color.”

I will use that quote I think as well as your meme.

  2. Yes, and don’t marry them either. A marriage is built on the needs of two people, never just one (no matter how sorry you feel for him or her). Also, never ever *ever* go into a relationship thinking you can change the other person. It’s not going to happen.

    • Tim says:

People can grow and develop together, but thinking someone will fundamentally change isn’t much of a basis for exploring where you can go together.

  3. Thanks, friend! 🙂

  4. Opa Bear says:

    Excellent, Tim!

  5. You inspired me to write a post, “Dating for Widows”!

  6. Very true! Unfortunately, I think many of us run after those very same people for one reason or another. Thankfully, I was able to break that cycle, and I pray the same for others! Nice meme!

  7. Christiane Smith says:

Seems to me that any man who thinks himself superior to women, who also thinks he must verbally demean a woman by pushing her below where he is standing, has already shown that he was not superior to her in stature to start with.
The whole ‘submission’ world is so contrived to bolster the egos of males that it cannot escape the realization that, without ‘submitting’, women ARE naturally on an equal plane. And since God is the God of the Natural Order also, I suspect that these men realize they have cooked up quite a mulligan of male malevolent malarkey right out of the ‘dominatrix/submissive’ playbook. Really quite shocking! Nothing ‘of Christ’ can come up from that pit of perversity, no.
